We are almost at the end of 2022!
I can't believe it's gone so fast, but I have been so busy this year, still working full-time, juggling life's everyday hurdles, as we all know.Â
Then there is the creative side of the indie "business" and all that comes with that.Â
From working on the website and social media and producing some songs if there is time.Â
So no wonder the year has flown by.Â
But I'm not complaining.Â
I love it
Now, I want to take a moment to thank you for letting me be part of your world.
Thank you so much for listening to my music, giving to the vision, and supporting me in the many ways you have.
I'm genuinely thankful for every one of you!Â
Without Your Love, I'd Be Nowhere At All
As you spend time with your loved one and as we enter the Christmas season, may joy and peace remain with you, and may you always have something to be thankful for.
What do Rory Gallagher and Martin J. Nystrom have in common?
Well, the answer to the question above is simple.
Both are musicians, and both are composers.
And both wrote a song I released on December 9th.
These songs are:
- Bad Penny (written by Rory Gallagher)
- As The Deer (written by Martin J. Nystro)
Rory Gallagher was an iconic Irish guitarist and songwriter born in Ballyshannon, County Donegal.
His earthy and stripped-down brand of blues rock has hugely influenced artists from all genres since his passing in 1995.
His albums throughout the 1970s were widely acclaimed, with his live performances at the Montreux Music Festival in Switzerland becoming legendary.
He has a massive fan base across the globe, connected to him through his everyman persona and ability to capture emotion through his music.
His official homepage is a great place to learn more about Rory Gallagher's story, discography, and legacy - so that fans can continue to be inspired by this musical legend.
Bad Penny is my homage to this blues rock giant.
Martin J. Nystrom is a singer, songwriter, composer, music educator, and author from Seattle, Washington.
Raised in the Methodist tradition, he graduated from Oral Roberts University in 1979 with a degree in music education.
In 1984 he was teaching music at a school in Seattle when he had the opportunity to travel to Dallas, Texas, for some time off.
During his stay, he wrote the popular hymn "As the Deer," which has since become a worship standard. He continues to write and perform music today, and you can find his website at martynystrom.com.
As The Deer is a hymn, I enjoy listening to and singing.
I recorded both covers in my home studio. I sing and play all instruments.
Only the mixing and mastering of Bad Penny was outsourced to Dan Leaning in Manchester.
Thanks Dan!
Guitar-oriented rock is my trademark.
In addition to being an active lover of rock and rock themes, I'm also a religious person. I showcase my love of hymns at my local church at least once a month as a counterpoint to the fast-paced, energetic rock and roll.
Perhaps an unusual combination, but this suits me perfectly.
That may explain this unusual combination of releasing a blues-rock song and hymn all in one day!
To wrap up this e-mail, I wish you all a great December and a happy 2023!
And remember to add some music to your day!!
Cheers,Â
Julience
