Alternative rock from Manchester. Made alone.
I’m a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Manchester. I was born in the south of the Netherlands and moved here because this is where the music I care about came from.
It started with a Paul McCartney concert in Antwerp in 2003. I walked out of it knowing what I wanted to do, picked up a guitar, and haven’t put it down since. Six years later I watched Oasis in Cologne and stopped wondering where I’d end up.
The records are loud. Big guitars, drums that fill the room, hooks that don’t apologise for being hooks. Underneath all that they’re songs β most of them written on an acoustic first, and they still work that way if you strip everything else off.
I play every instrument on them. I record, mix and master them myself. No label, no co-writers, no session players, no AI anywhere near it. That’s not a boast β it just means that if something’s wrong on a Julience record, it’s mine.
Most of what I write circles the same thing: people who drifted, and whether the door’s still open. I keep coming back to it without meaning to.
The lineage is obvious enough β Oasis, The Beatles, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Springsteen, the Stones, Thin Lizzy. People have also mentioned Rush, ELO, The Who and Fall Out Boy, which I’ve never entirely worked out, but make of that what you will.
I’m on socials properly, not as a broadcast channel. If you say something, I’ll answer.
