An indie artist is an individual who produces, performs, and releases music independently without the backing of a (major) label. They haven't signed any contract or agreement with an external party. These artists can create their album packaging, distribute their work online and offline, and have complete creative control over the release process.Â
Independent artists have a wide range of creative outlets to showcase their work. Artists can now create album art that they can print, distribute, and sell. They can also control the entire release process (from writing the songs themselves to setting up concerts) without relying on a record company to do it for them.Â
I guess that means I can call myself an independent artist.Â
But, to be honest, I find it's a hell of a job sometimes.Â
Like the Beach Boys once sang, Â
